Why we built Tekna
We've spent years around airline load control, and the same thing kept surprising us: the Weight & Balance data that every load sheet — and ultimately safe flight — depends on lives in spreadsheets, emailed around until nobody is sure which copy is current. IATA even publishes the AHM 565 schema as an Excel workbook.
The problem isn't the standard. It's the medium. Software teams solved this decades ago with version control and code review. Tekna Vault applies that discipline to W&B data: one structured record per airline, every change reviewed and approved before it goes live, every version retained. Yes. Vault is built on the AHM 565 standard from the ground up — your data is organised exactly as AHM 565 defines it, validated strictly against the published schema on import, and every export is verified to re-import losslessly.
Does Tekna Vault fit our existing AHM 565 process?
Yes — Vault speaks the standard you already use. Your data is organised exactly as AHM 565 defines it (carrier, aircraft groups, configurations, and the familiar sheets), and you start by importing the x565 XML file you have today. Nothing about your process has to change for the data to move in.
Can we get all of our data out?
Any time. Vault exports your published data as x565 XML, and every export is verified before it is served: the generated file is re-run through our own strict importer to prove it re-imports losslessly. Your data leaves in the same standard it arrived in.
Can Vault connect to our other systems?
Today, Vault exports your published data as verified x565 XML — the format your load control, ops, and partner systems already consume, with no manual re-keying. Direct API access is in development for airlines that want a live connection rather than a file.
Where is our data hosted?
On AWS cloud infrastructure. Each airline's data is isolated in its own tenant, access is invite-only, and roles are managed per carrier by your own admins.
Who can change our data?
Nobody edits live data directly. Editors work in drafts; a designated approver in your airline reviews the diffs and approves before anything is published. Every change is attributed, and every previous version is retained.
Does Tekna compute load sheets?
No. Vault is the system of record for the semi-permanent W&B data your load control systems consume — it doesn't replace them. Load-plan optimization is the territory of Tekna Optima, a second product currently in development.
